ISS provides four scanning tools: Internet Scanner, Systems Scanner, Database Scanner, and Wireless Scanner. Internet Scanner, provides automated network vulnerability assessment across servers, desktops, and infrastructure devices. Internet Scanner performs distributed or event-driven probes of network services, operating systems, routers/switches, servers, firewalls, and application routers to identify potential risks. System Scanner assesses host security, monitoring, detecting and reporting system security weaknesses. System Scanner monitorings the server for changes including users, group, services, shares and system integrity through the baseline of files and registry keys. System Scanner measures, manages and enforces security policies across a wide range of operating systems using a host-to-network view of critical systems and servers.Database Scanner assesses online business risks by identifying security exposures in leading database applications. Wireless Scanner provides automated detection and security analyses of mobile networks utilizing 802.11b WLAN (Wi-Fi) access points and clients.
